Javed Nawaz
Javed Nawaz, Managing Director of
AgroDev, is the Honorary Investment Counsellor of Pakistan in Oman
and Director of the Pakistan Social Club. He has served on the Board
of Director of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (1980-83)
and established 3 community schools in Oman while he was Chairman,
Board of Governors, Pakistan College, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman
(1990-93).
Mr Nawaz was member of the First
Group Study Exchange Team sponsored by Rotary International
California USA (1974). He was the Secretary & President of
Punjab University Law College Students' Union (1967-68) and winner
of the Roll of Honour (1968). Mr Nawaz has recently been appointed
Member Board of Directors, Pakistan Institute of Legislative
Development & Transparency (PILDAT), a prestigious
non-government organisation, working in close co-operation with
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He is also on the Board
of Directors of Institute of Overseas Pakistanis (IOP), a non-profit
organisation that has established over 100 schools in rural areas.
Mr Nawaz is the Managing Director
of Agro-development & Commercial Projects LLC, Oman &
Agro-development & Commercial Projects FZC, United Arab Emirates
and holds interest in various other companies like National Company
for Agriculture & Livestock Development LLC, Gulf land
Construction LLC, Al Kafoor Trading & Contracting Est., etc.
Prior to establishing Poultry
& Commodities business in the Middle East, Mr Nawaz was the
Managing Director of Gulf Land Construction LLC & ECE
Construction, Contracting & Trading Co. SA (Istanbul), a joint
venture between Turkey, Pakistan & Oman in the private sector.
Mr Nawaz has also worked with Government of Pakistan as General
Manger of Roti Corporation of Pakistan and earlier with Danish
Agency for International Development (DANIDA) on various projects
relating to -Trade of Perishables in developing countries in early
1970s. The Group advised and assisted in setting up Modern
slaughterhouses, chain of supermarkets and milk processing unit.
Father of three children, his
eldest daughter Javaria Javed Nawaz is studying at London
Metropolitan University as LMU / Benazir Bhutto Scholar to do
Masters in Information System Development. His son Salman Javed
Nawaz is studying Electrical Engineering at the National University
of Singapore, after receiving London University's Excellent
Achievement Award. Anem, the third child, has recently completed her
O/Level with distinction and is keen to pursue medicine as her
career. His wife Gul is a graduate from the prestigious College of
Home Economics and is keenly devoted to social work and women
uplift.
Mr Nawaz is a regular contributor
of daily Times of Oman and other international magazines and
journals.
